“Dover Beach” (1867)

Ah, love, let us be true

To one another! for the world, which seems

To lie before us like a land of dreams,

So various, so beautiful, so new,

Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,

Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help from pain;

And we are here as on a darkling plain

Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight,

Where ignorant armies clash by night.

MATTHEW ARNOLD (1822-1888) English poet, critic, essayist

ocean11In July 2014 humanity may have started down the road of ending apartheid conditions and thinking forever. The world public protest of Israel for its military actions against the people of Gaza has unleashed a tsunami of articles explaining what the mainstream corporate news has never reported: Israel is an apartheid state.

The “Boycott, Divest, Sanction” (BDS) movement, first proposed and talked about years ago, has become recognized by men and women the world over as the essential tool for ending the intractable, decades-old stalemate that is the Israel-Palestine struggle. As awareness of the history, facts, and truth about Israel-Palestine grows exponentially now, so do demands for a real agreement which finally resolves the conflict – one based on genuine human rights for both Palestinians and Israelis.

A hundred years from now, when Palestinian and Israeli children read about the years between 1948 and 2014, they will try to understand how such a reality could be created and endured for so many years. They will ask themselves questions like “how could people use bulldozers on other people’s homes and farms, then take the land of those people passed down to them for generations?”

They will find it astonishing that their respective ancestors lived in such unenlightened ways, yet gain hope for the human race from the example provided in 2014 when people from every nation and region called for that enlightened vision of brotherhood in Israel-Palestine and other war-torn areas.  Those young people of 2114 will experience wonder when learning that one hundred years earlier the human race had only begun to see the negative consequences coming out of a philosophy that endorsed killing of innocent people for selfish reasons, and at the same time express gratitude that the philosophy was in a short time absolutely discredited – then discarded forever.

How could human beings kill each other – back there in 2014?

Those Palestinian and Israeli children of 2114 – all children on Earth –  will learn that the turning point for humanity in 2014 came when there emerged a wide and deep understanding of the absolute value of truthful dialogue, mutual honor and respect based on a shared recognition of each human being’s inherent worthiness and rights, and full awareness of the “Golden Rule” – not harming others.

The young people of 2114 will smile at each other in deep appreciation of their ancestors who broke through old, tired, and harmful thinking and acting, rising to higher, nobler ways of interacting with each other while building mutually beneficial, peace-insuring, and confidence/trust-enhancing systems, structures, and lasting agreements. Those young ones in 2114 will know that the world they live in and take for granted took some heroic effort on the part of people living in 2014, including a shared goal of guaranteeing all actions have a positive effect on people living one hundred years in the future.

Mr. Jeff Halper has earned a lot of respect and honor since becoming degreed in Anthropology and moving to Israel in 1973. In the little over 40 years he’s lived there, Mr. Halper has worked to bring an end to the Israel-Palestine conflict, having been nominated with a Palestinian intellectual/activist for the Nobel Peace Prize. He co-founded the Israeli Coalition Against Home Demolition which has tried through the years to stop illegal destruction of Palestinian homes and confiscation of land/farms.

In the following Real News Network interview, Mr. Halper points out Benjamin Netanyahu said a few days ago that  “there will never be a Palestinian state.” He views the current military campaign being carried out by the Israeli government as one more effort to break the Palestinian resistance, and that Israelis are in effect saying to Palestinians, “it’s over, you are going to be in prison; there’s no more peace process.” Jeff Halper sees the present situation one in which the Israeli government has given the Palestinians three options: 1. Submit 2. Leave the country 3. Die.

He finds that there’s an almost total lack of context in the minds of the media, Israeli citizens, and people around the world. The media portrays the conflict as a kind of Arab-Israeli historical, solution-less situation which cannot be improved upon because Israelis and Arabs (Palestinians) have some type of incompatible DNA, ignoring the real context of what has occurred in the over six decades since Israel came into existence.

He finds these days ones which are very difficult for leftist groups in Israel, the media very rarely reporting those groups’ perspectives, and that now “the genie is out of the bottle” – everything’s become possible. He’s found that reasoned and rational dialogue has become greatly diminished to almost non-existent; that near no chance remains for talks potentially leading to a good settlement of the conflict; and violence, racism, and hatred have become the major focus of too many groups of people.

Mr. Halper sees a possibility that Israel will attempt to re-occupy Gaza and the West Bank permanently, yet he maintains optimism because the world has determined that “Israel has overplayed its hand.” Jeff Halper was one of the first to advocate and speak out for a worldwide “Boycott, Divest, Sanction” effort to end apartheid in Israel – based on the South Africa model of apartheid banishment – and he sees reason for hope in that the world has recognized BDS as the only remaining solution.

A woman announcer on public radio just reported that Palestinian deaths have increased to 338 and the number injured to more than 2,500.  With Jeff Halper’s near 40 years of life experience in Israel and working to end the conflict, there is no reason to differ with his perception of the three options Israel now offers Palestinians. It may, however, be helpful to the peace process if one more option became added to his perceived option list.

After adding option four, Jeff Halper’s Israeli option list looks as follows:

Leave the country.

Israeli-Palestinian honorable decisions/actions based on vision for the well-being of humanity – now and into the future.

Mr. Netanyahu: Show Your Evidence To The World.

Posted on July 13, 2014

oneness3Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu has said, with regard to his government’s assertion that Hamas carried out the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teenagers, that, “we know Hamas did it.” Mr. Netanyahu, the world must see the evidence.

Hamas denies any responsibility for the kidnap and murder of the three Israeli teens. What would Hamas gain by carrying out the crimes Israel accuses them of? Let’s say that Hamas kidnapped the teens to hold them for a ransom of release of a number of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons. Why would they kill the teens and lose their bargaining position? These are questions having to do with conjectures, but according to Israeli officials, they “know Hamas did it”, so where is the information which led to that certainty?

Why is it important that Israel show the world their proof? Because Israel is basing their decision to carry out a bombing campaign that has thus far killed over 170 Palestinian men, women, and children – and injured over 1,000 – on that evidence. In any civilized, democratic, developed nation, the law enforcement actions taken by Israel would never occur. Excellent police work in cases of triple kidnap/murder follow a routine of evidence collection, detective interviews, request and serving of subpoenas, court trial, etc., until the truth became determined and the guilty become rightly punished for their crimes.

If Israel says they know Hamas is responsible, this tells the public that law enforcement has specific information to result in that public assertion, so why, instead of going through the routine of all law enforcement agencies, would there be 560 men taken into custody? No law enforcement agency would, before obtaining search warrants, randomly take hundreds of citizens into custody, killing a dozen people in the process.

What law enforcement agency on Earth would keep from the parents of murdered teenagers the reality that they were dead until weeks later, and in the process allow those parents to entertain false hopes that their children were still alive? The answer is zero; all law enforcement agencies on Earth would share the heart-breaking news right away. Mr. Netanyahu, as well as showing the world his evidence of Hamas guilt, must explain to the world his reasons for withholding the facts/truth when Israeli law officials knew the teens were dead.

The world’s people must demand answers to these and other hard questions about the event that sparked this tragedy, and press for total transparency of all details and facts surrounding the kidnapping and murder of the three teens. Until such total transparency manifests, until Israel shares with the world their evidence and satisfactorily explains the reasons for their actions, there will exist the lingering thoughts in the minds of many people around the world that Israel carried out a “false flag”; that Israeli officials carried out the kidnap and murder of the three teens to serve as a pretext for the ongoing bombing campaign.

Mentioning a possibility of a false flag operation by Israelis is not unreasonable given the number of false flags that were carried out by governments through history. During the 1967 war between Israel and Egypt, Israel, probably in secret agreement with American President Lyndon Johnson, attacked the naval intelligence-gathering ship USS Liberty near the coasts of Israel and Egypt with the traitorous goal of leaving no survivors among the over 200 American sailors/servicemen on board. The “false flag” attack, if communication of an SOS hadn’t occurred from the Liberty to a Navy aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean and spoiled the plan, would have pointed to Egypt, and the United States would have entered into the conflict militarily. There are reports the United States was ready to drop a nuclear bomb on Cairo, Egypt.

Last September (2013), a chemical weapons attack in Syria became blamed on the Syrian government, and the United States told the world that there was “absolutely no doubt” about the evidence pointing to the Syrians’ guilt, when the alternative press on the internet began widely reporting the truth that the chemical attacks were a “false flag” operation, carried out by opponents of the Syrian government, designed to produce an American and British Libya-type bombing campaign on Syria. The “evidence” was placed in the hands of members of Congress in the US, and many after seeing it couldn’t believe that such a weak case was made.

Retired intelligence and military personnel whose careers were served in the US wrote an open letter calling out the unconvincing “evidence” for what it was – not credible. No western media reported the “false flag” story, even to discredit or disprove it.

This February 2014, the sniper shootings of over 100 Ukrainians – now known as the “Maidan Massacre” – led to the ouster of President Viktor Yanukovych, who became named along with his security forces – Berkut – as the guilty parties in the killings by the new Ukraine regime’s top law enforcement officials. An intercepted phone conversation from early March between European Union high official Katherine Ashton and Estonian foreign minister Urmas Paet included an assertion by Mr. Paet that the new coalition forces were behind the sniper killings – shooting both civilians and police.

No western media reported on the phone call or interviewed either Ms. Ashton or Mr. Paet.

Germany’s equal to American investigative news program “60 Minutes” – ARD Monitor – produced and aired a segment on the “Maidan Massacre” that directly challenged the new Ukraine government narrative on who was behind the sniper killings, suggesting the need for an independent multinational law enforcement investigation. No western media has touched the possibility the killings were carried out by forces behind the new Ukraine regime, either to discredit or disprove. No multinational investigation has occurred.

Is it possible that the Israeli government carried out a “false flag” multiple murder with the three Israeli teens? Consider what everyone on Earth is now aware of with regard to the lies told by George W. Bush, Tony Blair, Dick Cheney, Colin Powell, and others about Saddam Hussein’s “weapons of mass destruction”. Remember Colin Powell at the United Nations, with the most serious expression on his face, holding the vial for the world to see of chemical weapons that Saddam Hussein was producing. Remember that Colin Powell lied to the world, and that estimates of between 600,000 and 1,000,000 Iraqis and nearly 5,000 American servicemen died in that war begun in 2003 – based on lies.

Then ask if there’s any possibility, if there is reason to suggest, the three Israeli teens were murdered in a false flag operation. Until Israel shows the world evidence which conclusively proves Hamas was behind the three murders, many will have doubts about the Israelis’ basis for asserting “we know Hamas did it.” At this point there is no good reason for Israel’s government to withhold from humanity their evidence, but there are two good reasons to show that evidence to the world.

Showing the world incontrovertible evidence of Hamas’ guilt would erase from the minds of many – and any further talks about – the suggestion of an Israeli false flag operation.

If Israel refuses to show the world any incontrovertible evidence, or provides evidence which most good law enforcement professionals view as unconvincing or not credible, then it will become obvious to humanity that Israel’s bombing of Gaza, and the over 170 deaths that have occurred to now, is unjustified and meets the definition of war crimes. For the reasons and examples given, it is absolutely urgent to discover if Israel’s claims that Hamas is guilty are true or not, and as soon as humanly possible.

The “Gulf of Tonkin Incident” sparked the Vietnam War and the eventual deaths of over 50,000 Americans and four million Vietnamese. The Gulf of Tonkin incident was a “false flag” – it never happened. Lyndon Johnson, president of the United States during that time – the same president who colluded with top Israeli officials on the USS Liberty failed “false flag” event – had connections to oil oligarchs and defense contractors in Texas, and was probably intimately and criminally involved in the murder of President John F. Kennedy.

If Benjamin Netanyahu shares with Lyndon Johnson a personal philosophy and willingness to engage in deceitful actions – military actions which result in the deaths of thousands of innocent human beings to meet desired ends – the absolute urgency of arriving at the truth in Israel-Palestine becomes so, so clear.
