As of mid-May a movement started in Germany by Lar Mahrholz – “New Monday Demonstrations” – has grown to where they are being held in 60 German cities, Austria, and Switzerland. The effort is one calling for world peace and a fair monetary system; it is not certain if the project was initiated because of events in Ukraine or had been planned without the Ukrainian political crisis in mind.
There is a resemblance between “Monday Demonstrations” in Germany and the American “Occupy” movement gatherings from many months ago, one difference observed is that now in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland speakers have access to public address equipment, without any need for shouted-in-unison transmission of ideas so well-known by Occupy-watchers.
A few weeks ago former German mainstream journalist Ken Jebsen addressed the large crowd at the May 5th meeting in Berlin. One thing that can be said, comparing Ken Jebsen’s talk with Andreas Popp’s from April, is that these Monday meetings in Europe are intensely focused on the most pressing issues for humanity at this time on Earth.
Men and women in every nation and region on this Earth should be grateful to the good people in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland for their courageous efforts to prevent war in Ukraine. This movement, characterized by a philosophical shared view of advocating for all people everywhere, an end to wars initiated by a tiny fraction of the world’s people: the ultra-wealthy “elites”, plus calling for real transformation and reform in the international monetary system, offers inspiration and increased faith that ordinary men and women can change the world.
The summer of 2014 will be remembered by future generations as the pivotal time when everything changed for the better on this planet. A hundred years from now, girls and boys will read in their history books about the global “Monday Demonstrations” born in Berlin, Germany in March 2014 that brought in the new paradigm of true peace, justice, and solidarity for the entire human race.
