Father Dave Smith On Israel-Palestine, Christian Zionism: “Politics And Religion Mixed Up A Lot.”

By Jerry Alatalo

Australian Father Dave Smith at a recent “Warrior Weekend” – part of the “Boxing For Life” program, using boxing to bring people of different faiths and cultures together through sport.

ather Dave Smith of Australia was one of  the men and woman from around the Earth who received invitations to speak at the recent New Horizons Conference in Iran – the 6th Annual convening of the event in May 2018.

Among the group of others who participated were (from the U.S.): Alison Weir (author, founder of If Americans Knew), retired Central Intelligence Agency counter-intelligence expert Philip Giraldi, former State Department official Michael Maloof, military psychological operations expert and author of “Shell Game” (Swiss banks terrorist financing) Scott Bennett, and attorney/author Michael Springmann (Lawyers’ Committee for 9/11 Inquiry).

Father Dave Smith’s talk  focused on the erroneous theological foundations of Christian Zionism, the distinctive branch of the faith finding 50-70 million adherents in the United States alone. The Christian block is very influential (negatively, if what Father Dave Smith suggests is correct) when it comes to U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East and elsewhere around the Earth, particularly with regard to Israel-Palestine.

If one accepts the central thrust of Father Dave Smith’s thesis, the most worrisome aspect of Christian Zionists’ erroneous beliefs set is holding the idea that being a Christian requires giving full support to Israel – and accepting the “prophecy” that the return of Jesus Christ is dependent on Israel’s militarily conquering its neighbors or enemies. In other words, Christian Zionists are to believe (and do believe) that wars fought by Israel, including those fought by the United States for or joined with Israel, are absolute/solid “signs” – ignorant of the potential huge losses of human lives, the injuries, dislocation and destruction associated with military violence – of the imminent return of Jesus Christ.

This theologically incorrect stance is actually the one held firmly by millions of U.S. Christian Zionists (readers might have family members or friends in the religious category) – in fact to the point where many are joyously anticipating the “Armageddon” of Revelations in the Bible or major war in the Middle East, which supposedly then triggers the prophecy-fulfilling supernatural spiritual event of Christ’s return, the 2nd Coming, and/or “The Rapture”.

Americans might find it important to know that former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency and now Secretary of State under Donald Trump – Mike Pompeo – believes in “The Rapture”. Moreover, Father Dave Smith wonders out loud in his talk whether Donald Trump’s National Security Advisor John Bolton is a Christian Zionist. The selection of Bolton by Trump did not require the approval/vote or confirmation of the U.S. Congress.

The Rapture has come into the consciousness of America’s estimated 50-70 million Christian Zionists through the reading of the controversial (many Christian leaders criticize and consider it sheer blasphemy) Scofield Bible, published in 1909 and including extensive end notes or interpretive commentary by editor Scofield, which portray biblical scriptures/verses in an extremely Israel-centric light.

Perhaps some men or women journalists can ask Mr. Pompeo and Mr. Bolton if their bibles are the Scofield version. It might be very important to know the answer, and especially so, given the current highly tense global situation.

A few hours of research into the Scofield Bible, its historical facts and the theological controversy surrounding it are enough for one to lean strongly in the direction that millions of Americans who’ve used/read solely the Scofield publication have been sadly fooled about Israel vis-à-vis Christianity. In many instances people professing themselves as Christians have used the Scofield Bible alone … solely that book without exception, for decades and/or generations.

Among America’s more well-known Christian Zionists are Pat Robertson (who ran for president as a Republican, and once publicly called for the political, literal assassination of  Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez), John Hagee and Robert Jeffress (who both spoke in Israel at the U.S. Embassy dedication ceremony, after Donald Trump moved it from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem), Jerry Falwell, Benny Hinn, Hal Lindsey, and many others.

Father Dave Smith spoke toward the end of his talk:

“Hence, biblical prophecies … they’re never designed to help shape foreign policy; any more than they’re designed to just satisfy our curiosity about the future. They’re designed to call us back to the commandments. Once we recognize this, I think we can see the fundamental flaw in the logic of Christian Zionism. They claim the biblical prophecies point to the triumph of the modern-state Israel over its neighbors.

“Even if they could be right, that some prophet had predicted this, it wouldn’t mean that either the prophet or the scriptures as a whole endorsed the event, nor would it mean that people should support it, any more than Jeremiah’s dire warnings were intended to garner support for the destruction of Jerusalem. In the Hebrew bible, when the prophet gives dire predictions about the future, his hope is that his warnings will cause his hearers to come back into a relationship of obedience to God – resulting in the prophecy proving false.

“See, the tragedy of Christian Zionism … Is it gets the whole process back to front, urging us to follow the prophecy even if it means breaking the laws of God, breaking the commandments. Prophecy has never been normative. The commandments are normative. The commandments tell us how we have to behave towards God and towards our neighbors. It’s the commandments with which we can base our foreign policy on, – a biblically based foreign policy, which would require of course a focusing on justice.

“As a Sydney Anglican priest I’m privileged to be part of a church tradition that has never been greatly influenced by Zionism. Indeed, I believe that at the Sydney Anglican Synod of 1948, some people did indeed stand up suggesting the creation of Israel was the fulfillment of biblical prophecy.

“It was the principal of our theological seminary who corrected them, saying: ‘No, no … It’s the fulfillment of the 8th commandment – Thou shalt not steal’. And this is the great tragedy of Christian Zionism … That under the guide of faithfulness to biblical prophecy it indeed justified stealing, and murder, and any number of other crimes that are clearly contrary to the commandments of God.

“A genuinely biblical approach to the situation in Israel-Palestine must begin, I believe, not with prophecy, but with the unambiguous command to do justice. A justice that respects the rights of Palestinian people to their land, to life and to liberty.”

Father Dave Smith after declared the ‘winner’ of an exhibition boxing match.

An Interview Of Ray Cormier.

By Jerry Alatalo

r. Ray Cormier, editor at The Word – Ray Joseph Cormier here on WordPress, has kindly accepted an invitation to take part in our recently begun interview series. Mr. Cormier has a unique personal perspective as have all previous interviewees, adding for readers a valuable contrast, and at the same time broadening the series’ diverse spectrum of worldviews as related to experienced events.

Thank you, Ray, for generously sharing your life experiences and insights, found in the following words.

Question 1.) What was your primary motivation for entering the world of blogging on the worldwide web – the internet?

And more than they, my son, beware; making many books has no end, and studying much is a weariness of the flesh.-Ecclesiastes12:12

And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. -John 21:25

There is no question the Internet is the marvel of our Age.There is no longer an excuse to say ,”I didn’t know.” My Blog is my ‘Book’ in the Spirit of the Bible verses above

I was a Star Trek devotee in the 60s. It was so Civilized. The “communicator” was only a fantasy, but now they are real with cell phone communicators. Unfortunately, we have smart phones but dumb people in the sense of not speaking up about the unfolding events in this World. I was so impressed with the technology when Captain Kirk said, ‘On Screen’ and there were visuals from anywhere in Space. Now we have Skype connecting everybody on Earth.

I would imagine the primary motivation for anyone entering the world of Blogging is to share their thoughts and visions of what they see in this world, and what they would like to see.

For me, part of the reason is to make people aware of this Public Record from 41 years ago.

These are excerpts from the article as I saw then, and see unfolding in the bigger world Today. There is an explicit Future Time-date in the article that came True in March 1979 as recorded in the 1976 record

“He came to town for the Republican National Convention and will stay until the election in November TO DO GOD’S BIDDING: To tell the world, from Kansas City, this country has been found wanting and its days are numbered […] He gestured toward a gleaming church dome. “The gold dome is the symbol of Babylon,” he said.” […] He wanted to bring to the Public’s attention an “idea being put out subtly and deceptively” by the government that we have to get prepared for a war with Russia.”

It’s taken over 40 years, but that 1976 FUTURE is NOW, with the Revelation of the details GENERALLY unfolding in the spirit of the letter. The World is finally waking up to see Trump just may hasten “its days are numbered” part of the 1976 Public record. Fire and Fury like this world has never seen before may be another promise Trump will keep?

The KANSAS CITY TIMES did a follow up report on ALL SOULS DAY, November 2, 1976. When the TV movie ‘THE DAY AFTER’ Kansas City was incinerated in a Nuclear Holocaust appeared in 1983, most likely, I was the only Human on Earth, including the newspaper reporters, to note at the END, the movie pauses at the very same picture frame THE KANSAS CITY TIMES chose for the ALL SOULS DAY record 7 years earlier.

Any way you look at it, that HISTORICAL FACT is a confirming SIGN for our Generations, the World has arrived at the point of Decision, of an “idea being put out subtly and deceptively” by the government that we have to get prepared for a war with Russia.” ‘Multitudes! Multitudes in the Valley of Decision. The Day of the LORD IS NEAR in the Valley of Decision.’

Not too many will recognize, “this country has been found wanting and its days are numbered” as the 1st two parts, of the 3 part ‘Writing on the Wall” from Daniel 5 and the Captivity of Babylon some 2600 years ago. The whole world saw The Writing on the Wall for the 1st TIME at the same TIME, with the Global Financial Meltdown-Economic Pearl Harbour in September of 2008, even if the world does not recognize it as such.

The 3rd part of the Writing on the Wall tells of the decline of Babylon, the 1st Biblical model of the Nation that reaches Imperial Military-Economic Superpower Status, and the rise of Persia

Ancient Babylon is now Iraq, and ancient Persia is now Iran.

The US is the latest, greatest of all the Nations reaching Imperial Military-Economic Superpower Status in the 2600 year old Biblical Babylonian superstructure.

The TAIL struck the HEAD, causing the unravelling of the Earthly Babylonian superstructure/infrastructure in violation of International Law, undermining the Global Order in place since WWII, ushering in the Law of the Jungle to the Middle East and this World.

The Iranian Revolution happened in 1979, 2-1/2 years after the record in the 1976 KANSAS CITY TIMES Timeline.

All the chaos in the Middle East since then, including the carnage in Syria, is the consequence of the vain attempt to reverse that God ordained, repeat of History, as a SIGN for our Generations.

The Trump government has announced to the world, the next target for regime change by the US is Iran. Trump is following the same US WAR PLANS brought out weeks after 9/11, to change regimes in Iraq, Libya, Syria and finally, Iran.

Former NATO Supreme Commander, US General Wesley Clark blew the whistle on those 2001 US War Plans in 2007, years before the 2011 Arab Spring, the regime change in Libya, and the attempted regime change in Syria.

Republican Bush did Iraq, Democrat Obama did Libya and attempted regime change in Syria, and now Trump, is going after Iran leading to the END game of those 2001 US War Plans. At a minimum, this is circumstantial evidence there really is a DEEP STATE pulling the strings behind the Republican-Democratic-Trumpian facade?

Obviously, I personally, had nothing to do with the larger, real world GENERALLY unfolding along the lines of that 1976 letter other than being a Messenger in the right place at the right Time. I cannot boast about it, except to point out the Historical FACTS. It does not make me better, superior or any more special than any other having a True Faith in God. The FACTS above are independently verifiable along the Timeline since September 13, 1976. I thank God I’m still alive in my 74th year and via the Internet, point to the record which is evidence God lives!

Question 2: How would you describe yourself with regard to spirituality?

Brought up as a Catholic in French Quebec, the Church had much more influence and control in the Culture that it has now. Because it was something you had to do, the every Sunday Catholic mass had crowds overflowing into the street.  I recall the Church was able to stop Elvis Presley from performing in Quebec, because his sensual hip movements were not acceptable to be seen by the People. Ed Sullivan did the same thing.

I had a child’s love for Jesus, the Bible being the 1st Book I read form cover to cover when I learned how to read. Jesus was my Hero. But then I discovered the sexuality God designed and made part of the human experience in the human body.

Catholics have to confess their sins to the Priest and I had to confess how many times ‘I played with myself’ the only activity I engaged in called a sin I knew of in my younger years. The number varied from week to week, and the punishment was always the same, 10 Our Fathers and 10 Hail Marys. A Priest never molested me, but as I got older, and started playing with others, I confessed that sin as ‘committing an impure act with another person.’ As far as I was concerned, the Priest knew what I was confessing. I took offence when they started asking for graphic and explicit descriptions of what happened in bed and that was none of his business. I left the Church.

While the basic Christian Value of ‘treating others as I loved myself’ was ingrained in my personality, I never thought of God as I got into the world system. I was dead to God, and God was Dead to me. I felt no need since at the age of 24, with company car and expense account to wine and dine, the money I was making then, accounting for inflation, would buy the stuff requiring  $170,000 in Today’s Dollars.

At 29, my Business Card read, “National Marketing Representative, Mining Division, Dominion Engineering Works Ltd. of Montreal. It was all title, and no substance. A Canadian Mining Company was not going to pay $150,000 for the manufactured machines and pay Canadian workers $30 in salary, benefits and taxes, when they could go offshore and pay workers $5 a Day with no benefits or environmental costs. The mineral could be imported put next door to a Canadian Mine for less than that Canadian mine could get it out of the ground. The export Market was booming, and I was relegated to preparing Proposals for Export. I could see in 1974, if that was already happening to heavy manufacturing and Mining, it wouldn’t be long before other Domestic Manufacturing went the same way. This was before US-Canada Free Trade, NAFTA, and Globalization of the Economy. I quit the job.

The very next Day, February 1, 1975, when I was 29 going on 30 and I was ‘born again’ without looking for it. It was a totally unexpected surprise to me. With all I experienced in my Life before that Day, more than many, and less than others, I knew without a doubt, I came alive to the kingdom of heaven within me. ‘Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.’ -John 1:13  ‘And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God comes not with observation:
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Luke 17:20-21

This may be a long accounting leading to my spiritually after living a life in the flesh, but this is how I describe the beginning of it, trying to convey a spiritual experience through words made Flesh.

DAY OF AWAKENING – DAVID vs GOLIATH vs ARMAGEDDON

Sometimes I am a slow learner. Two years before I was able to identify what happened to me February 1, 1975 as coming alive to God, I did have a very vivid and powerful Dream, a premonition perhaps, but did not identify it as God, and did not start communion with God at that Time. That is described in the Blog article ‘I HAD A DREAM.

Question 3: What were some of the most memorable transforming points across the years (books, personal contacts, mystical experiences, etc.) in the developing of your current spiritual perspective?

Getting to this 3rd question, I probably answered a lot of it in the 2 previous questions. Obviously, reading the answer to the 1st question, I would pay much closer attention to the unfolding events in this world more than most people, except for those experts who are paid to study Global events. As to ‘mystical experiences, some of them are covered in the 1st question. My Blog article ‘THE IMPERIAL POPE‘  describes things that happened in my Life without exaggeration or embellishment that would be considered mystical at the very least.

Like any other Believer, after 42 years, my spirituality is still a work and Revelation in progress, Day by Day.

Question 4: What is your greatest wish for readers as a consequence after reading/considering your writings?

I can only hope with this Witness and Testimony, people will see I write about a Power much greater than I, Presidents, Prime ministers and Religious Leaders, and will start looking for God in their lives, and in the World. God will not force anyone to look for God. Those who seek will find. It may not be quick with the snap of the fingers, but with Faith and Patience, God will Reveal God to the sincere seekers. No one can be saved by me, the Pope, the Rabbis, the Ayatollahs or any Christian Evangelist. You can be saved only by Christ in YOU. ‘Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.’ -Isaiah 1:18

Question 5: Can you offer any advice to people having a difficult time dealing with government and media lies, especially as it pertains to so many average citizens who hold erroneous perceptions on important events and situations around the Earth?

I wish I had a viable answer or advice to offer on this question. I am stumped like everyone else. Watching CNN & MSNBC, reading The Washington Post & The New York Times, I often see them as Propagandists for the Power, not speaking Truth to the Power. I often find myself shouting ‘liar’ at the TV, listening to some Politicians and the so called ‘experts’ subtly inciting for war with Russia. It’s working on American minds too in the new McCarthyism.

When the US, with it’s belief in it’s own exceptionalism, it’s incomprehensible to me how CNN & MSNBC is all Trump, anti-Russian, 24/7 for the last year, instead of informing Americans about the World the US thinks it has the right to control and conform to American interests and priorities. As this point, all I can do is write letters to Senators and Representatives, and comment in articles in The Washington Post, The Jerusalem Post, Haaretz, and many other online news sites – and pray to God.

Sunday Message From Syria.

by Jerry Alatalo

aaa-32After recently listening to an interview of Grand Mufti of Syria Dr. Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun by Father Dave Smith, the Syrian leader’s words were moving, so the interview became the focus of this post.  In Islam the Grand Mufti is the highest official of religious law, so Dr. Hassoun is one of Syria’s most prominent religious leaders. Father Dave is known as the “boxing priest” for his years of entering the ring as a since-youth boxing enthusiast, surprising people by being an atypical Catholic priest who punches others for sport. Both men have been involved in working for an end to the war in Syria begun in 2011 – ongoing, and recently entering the fifth year.

The war has resulted in over 200,000 men, women and children perishing, widespread destruction of towns and cities, millions of refugees leaving Syria to surrounding countries or internally displaced, and what observers unanimously agree is the world’s largest and most difficult humanitarian disaster. The long war in Syria for this writer has been the most heart-breaking issue of all to post on in over two years in this space. While Father Dave Smith, Grand Mufti Hassoun, numerous religious/spiritual leaders from around the world, United Nations officials, peace activists and others have worked to end the war in Syria, one wonders seriously – at this point where the violence and harm has seemed to gone on longer than forever – how those men and women maintain their sanity.

In addition, especially when referring to the men and women religious leaders who’ve worked to end the war, one wonders how they hold on to their faith. Because, for the Syrian people, the war in Syria has been as brutal, gruesome and destructive – physically and psychologically – as it gets. Father Dave’s interview of the Grand Mufti was originally posted over at ingaza.wordpress.com, the blog of peace activist Eva Bartlett, who has worked with Father Dave Smith in Syria. She has spent considerable time in recent years living and traveling in Palestine and Syria reporting on events, so for those interested in first-hand, informed and accurate narratives about the region please visit her blog.

Human beings have something in common that came with each of us as we entered this world at birth, and that is the ability to have compassion or feeling sorrow and sympathy upon becoming aware of others’ hurt and suffering. However one perceives of God, pray the trials and suffering of Syrians – of all people in the Middle East – soon come to an end.

The meeting between Father Dave Smith and Syrian Grand Mufti Dr. Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun was the first between the two, and their talk centers on the Grand Mufti’s personal spiritual perceptions, not specifics of  the war in Syria. The reason for sharing the words of the Grand Mufti is the hope that somehow his perceptions can become transferred/delivered to leaders and decision-makers with the capacity to influence events on the ground in Syria, and that the message he conveys profoundly moves those leaders to take right action and hasten the end of the war.

In relation to the Syrian conflict, the most relevant statement the Grand Mufti made during the interview may have been: “Those who are killing in the name of God do not know God”.

In a sense, one could describe this post as a message in a bottle urging peace in Syria and the Middle East.

After Father Dave asks the Grand Mufti where he was from and his “boxing record”, he learned that he’s from the Syrian city of Aleppo and that volleyball and swimming, not boxing, were two sports he participated in during high school. The priest then found out that the Grand Mufti had just turned 66 years-old, and Father Dave paid him a compliment: “you still look very fit”.

Interpreter for (His Grace) Grand Nufti Dr. Hassoun:

“He actually believe(s) in the power of love, and hatred is something that his Grace does not know or believe in, even for his enemies – he prays for them”.

Father Dave: How would you describe your work?

“His Grace believes that he is a messenger, and he does not ask the community or society a reward for it. His only question or request would be from God almighty, that God would be happy with the work of his Grace. His brother and sisters are actually not only those who are residing in Aleppo, it is the 7 billion others who reside on Earth”.

“They are two different kinds: the first is actually believers, and his Grace would always pray for the good and success of those believers, and happiness for them. (The) others are patients who did not find the way yet. So, for his Grace we always treat those in a similar way to a doctor in the hospital when he has a patient. For those who do not like his Grace, nor God, he is one of his Grace’s patients. So it is the duty of his Grace to give him medicine, and sympathize with him. Because God is actually the one who will judge that person, not his Grace”.

“For that reason his Grace will not believe that there are many religions – there is only one religion, and in this religion there are only two words: sacredness of God and dignity of human beings. The 7 billion human beings on this Earth are creations of God, whether they are believers or non-believers. But at the end of the day, it is God almighty that created all of them. So, it’s his Grace’s duty to serve them and look after them. In the mosque, in the church, or in the hospital, it is the duty of his Grace to look after them”.

“And God on the judgment day would be the one to ask whether they had become believers or non-believers. If his Grace would have access to the devil, he would basically preach that devil to be a believer. But whether the devil would actually decide to stay as it is…”

Father Dave asks if he is talking about Islam, or a particular form of religion.

“His Grace believes that actually there are different religions. Abraham has one, Moses has one, Jesus has one, Muhammad has one – but they all have one God. So the belief inside a human being is one. You can say that God almighty has (visualized?) in Jesus Christ, or you can tell me that God almighty is actually Jesus Christ, or Jesus Christ is the son of the almighty. This is your perception of God. His Grace’s perception of God is that we are the unity, you have God almighty as one, who does not basically have other forms”.

“It is actually the light and the spirit of God that basically fall on and has been transmitted to messengers like Abraham, like Moses, like Jesus, like Muhammad (PBUH). Well, this is actually God’s wish to be transmitted in this format. The beautiful thing about those five messengers is that we’ve been asked to believe in all of them, and none of them has said “do not believe in others”. The reason why his Grace loves Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is because it’s the commandment of Prophet Muhammad to say to all Muslims “You are not a Muslim or believer until you believe in all the messengers who came before me”. “

“It’s the commandment of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to believe in (the) Bible, and the Old Testament, and the virginity of Mary the Virgin. And that the spiritual great-grandfather for his Grace is Abraham, and that his cousins are Moses and Jesus. So we are all related to one family irrespective of which ways that lead to this family. The goal is the divinity of the God. And for that reason – his Grace said that yesterday when he received you – God does not exist in churches, in mosques, but God exists in the heart of all human beings”.

“When you love somebody you love because the power of God almighty is transmitted in the heartbeats of each human being. Without God’s power, you would not have the presence of that human being.  So, even that Jew is my brother, even if he was not nice to Jesus Christ, and did not beliieve in Jesus Christ, nor Prophet Muhammad. This means that he is a patient and it’s his Grace’s duty to treat him, and not to kill him. Those who are killing in the name of God do not know God”.

Father Dave: He is a beautiful man and an inspiration to us all. Thank you.

“His Grace wishes that you can transmit his best and warmest regards to all Australians whether they are Christian or Muslim clerics. Even to the Jewish Australians, even the Australians who are non-believers. They are all our brothers and sisters, and we hope that we can collaborate to renew this belief for those who want to believe, to take the hands for those who lost their way back to the right track. His Grace would tell you, them, and to himself – may God lead us to the right path. Amen”.
