In Global War Of Ideas, Truth Is The Greatest Weapon.

Alphabet The website GlobalResearch.ca founded by Emeritus professor of economics at University of Ottawa, Canada Michel Chossudovsky has become one of the “go-to” sites for news on the internet. Mr. Chossudovsky began teaching at the University of Ottawa in 1968, became a visiting professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile during the 1970-1973 government of Salvador Allende, and started researching economic and political repression after a United States-backed coup toppled the democratically elected Allende and dictator Augusto Pinochet seized power in 1973.

Mr. Chossudovsky sees globalization now operational in a global war of many dimensions, most evident in wars taking place in Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Ukraine, etc., and destabilizing events in South America, Africa, and the South China Sea.  According to Chossudovsky, the goal is world domination and the process is directed by powerful élite global capitalists seeking subjugation/control of national capitalist countries under the “cloak of human rights and western democracy”.

He perceives global capitalists using a variety of tactics and strategies from their “toolbox”, including direct military engagement, economic sanctions, a propagandistic corporate media, covert operations, “color revolutions”, weather warfare – “owning the weather for military use”, cyber warfare, and internal warfare consisting of harsh austerity policies with governments and corporations acting against citizens – most noticeable in Greece, Spain, Italy, Iceland, Ireland, and increasingly more visible in all western countries including the United States.

Unfortunately, resistance to the corporatist agenda has become fragmented through “co-optation” of civil societies where groups dilute power into single issue areas like environmentalism, war and peace activism, women’s rights, etc. instead of coming together in an organized manner to effectively confront the “empire of chaos”. The dangerous nature of globalization in Mr. Chossudovsky’s way of thinking relates to those who decide on war and peace believing their own propaganda, that they have to use war to bring about peace and democracy.

The controversial, giant trade proposals being negotiated in secret TransPacific Partnership and TransAtlantic Trade and Investment Partnership are a large part of the corporate global domination agenda, says Mr. Chossudovsky. It is worth noting that there have been near zero reports on those two massive trade deals in major western/corporate media outlets. If it weren’t for the internet, where the trade deals receive a huge amount of coverage, citizens would likely have no knowledge of their even existing.

The overall, disturbing summary of Michel Chossudovsky’s talk suggests that ordinary citizens have become increasingly marginalized around the world; in a sense entire societies are now viewed in the class of “throwaway”, leading to worsening living conditions for many millions of men, women and children during a real devolution from poverty to despair. Unfortunately, Mr. Chossudovsky’s analysis is correct.

The essential nature of the worldwide economic, social, political battle is a war of ideas, with the “sides” being the corporate mainstream media and its “extensive propaganda” up against alternative/internet media – combating that propaganda with truth on the world-wide-web.

March Against Monsanto Graduates To Higher Level.

by Jerry Alatalo

The Creator created the People of the Earth into the Land at the beginning of Creation and gave us a way of life. This way of life has been passed down generation-to-generation since the beginning. We have not honored this way of life through our own actions and we must live these original instructions in order to restore universal balance and harmony. We are a part of Creation; thus, if we break the Laws of Creation, we destroy ourselves.

Alphabet Over the weekend millions in over 400 cities around the Earth took part in the annual “March Against Monsanto”. Philosopher and attorney Steven Druker has written a new book: “Altered Genes, Twisted Truth: How the Venture to Genetically Engineer Our Food Has Subverted Science, Corrupted Government, and Systematically Deceived the Public”. The book was published in May 2015 and has already to date received 113 reviews at Amazon.com. The book has been very well received, as 94 of those reviews were 5-stars. Professors, attorneys, scientists and GMO activists have praised the book as the next “Silent Spring” written by Rachel Carson, Ralph Nader’s “Unsafe At Any Speed” or similar society-changing writings.

From the Foreward to “Altered Genes, Twisted Truth”:

“Without doubt, one of the most important books of the last 50 years. I shall urge everyone I know who cares about life on Earth, and the future of their children, and children’s children, to read it… Steven Druker is a hero. He deserves at least a Nobel Prize.”

– Jane Goodall, Ph.D.

Please visit Steven Druker’s website biointegrity.org and make a copy of his letter: “Challenge to Monsanto” (PDF – download available), where he directly challenges the Monsanto Company to scientifically disprove any facts presented in “Altered Genes, Twisted Truth”.

In Steven Druker’s legal opinion, the United States Food and Drug Administration failed to carry out legally required safety testing before approving genetically engineered (GE) foods in 1992, and have lied to the American people in the over 20 years since. In other words, unless Monsanto Company responds to his challenge with real scientific evidence to disprove assertions in Mr. Druker’s book, GE foods must by law be removed – taken off the market, because they were illegally approved.

For the anti-GMO global movement, Mr. Druker’s book and “Challenge to Monsanto” are a real game changer. The millions of men, women and children who marched against Monsanto may have done so for the last time. Thanks to Steven Druker and his fellow associates, concerned scientists and supporters, there is a possibility that GMOs will be off the market by this time next year.

Please visit http://www.amazon.com/Altered-Genes-Twisted-Truth to read reviews of Mr. Druker’s explosive new book and consider purchasing a copy. For those who are financially blessed, please consider buying multiple copies and giving them to friends, family, political officials, professors, members of the media/reporters, and/or any persons who have sufficient influence and the ability to determine the outcome of this decades-old, controversial, and extremely consequential debate.

Genetically engineered foods and crops have become one of the most debated, important and controversial issues of this generation. For the sake of this generation and future generations’ health and well-being – for the sake of all living things – share Steven Druker’s book, letter to Monsanto, and information as widely as possible.

What About ‘Glyphosate Kills’ Don’t America’s Politicians Understand?

by Jerry Alatalo

459Alphabet Thierry Vrain is a retired biologist and genetic engineer who since his retirement has focused on raising public consciousness of the link between genetically modified organisms (GMO) – especially Roundup herbicide whose active ingredient is glyphosate – and dramatic increases in negative health events since GMOs became approved for cultivation in 1996.

GMOs were specifically engineered to become sprayed with Roundup herbicide, essentially to allow farmers to deal with weeds in a much less labor intensive manner. Once genes become discovered through trial and error, which when combined with organic genes of corn, soy, etc. resist applications of Roundup and – unlike all plants which die after being sprayed with the herbicide – can then be cultivated, the technologically created new form of plant becomes patented. The creation is “Roundup ready”.

GMOs represent nearly all corn, soy, sugar beets, canola and other crops/foods grown on agricultural land in America.  Because they are “Roundup ready”, farmers can spray their fields as often as they feel necessary with the herbicide, as the crops are resistant and do not die, like, as mentioned, every plant sprayed with Roundup.

Glyphosate was first used as for descaling of pipes and boilers starting in the 1960’s, then bought by Monsanto in 1969 and patented as a herbicide. When pipes, boilers etc. became sufficiently descaled using glyphosate, the process of replacing the now polluted glyphosate wastewater with fresh water occurred, and the waste water was disposed of. When it became disposed of on fields containing plant life, glyphosate became recognized as a herbicide, because it killed all plants it came into contact with.

It wasn’t until 1996 and the go-ahead for GMOs that Roundup herbicide production, sales and widespread application to crops and farmland took off. Since what many describe as the “fateful year of 1996” GMO cultivation with the accompanying liberal applications of Roundup has grown to astonishing levels, producing enormous profits for Monsanto and other bio-tech giants, while stirring up an increasingly intensified worldwide debate over health concerns and the wisdom or ignorance in continuing to allow the technology.

Mr. Vrain’s presentation should produce great concern among any man or woman who would like to have confidence that the food they buy at their grocery store is totally safe for themselves and their children.  His presentation points out the connection between very small, ingested quantities of glyphosate and a range of diseases which, coincidentally, have risen in near perfect measure to increased applications of Roundup/glyphosate on millions of acres of farmland in America and those nations around the planet who still allow GMOs.

Those millions of acres of farmland have literally become drenched with Roundup since 1996. Glyphosate residue is literally everywhere in the environment. In the human body, glyphosate in very small concentrations has highly negative health – both physical and mental health – consequences. When glyphosate destroys each human beings’ beneficial, God-given bacteria numbering in the hundreds of trillions, among the significant poor health results are decreases in levels of serotonin.

When a person’s serotonin levels drop to a certain level, depression results. If a person’s serotonin levels become even lower, mental illness results. Has anyone noticed the increasing number of advertisements on television for antidepressants?

Boiling down Thierry Vrain’s presentation, his message of warning is that glyphosate, the active ingredient in the hugely successful herbicide Roundup, has been proven through scientific investigation by respected scholars as dangerous to human health. Glyphosate does not simply pass through a person’s digestive system; it “sticks” and accumulates – in the human body, animals, plants, forests, waterways, and nearly everywhere in the environment.

How many seconds, minutes or hours of mainstream media time has been solely devoted to discussion/debate over the safety of GMOs and/or Roundup? The unfortunate answer is zero. To what extent are GMO and Roundup a destabilizing factor in international relations, when “secret” and massive trade deals may contain legalese allowing agricultural, genetic technology unwanted by a nearly unanimous majority of citizens in nations potentially signing on to those trade agreements? To what extent are GMOs a factor in the “bread basket of Europe”, agriculturally rich country of Ukraine’s current negative situation?

When will American farmers understand that the world is increasingly rejecting genetic food and glyphosate, and that it would be in their best interests to stop planting GMOs? Not only in the best interests of their bottom lines; but perhaps much more importantly the health and well-being of their fellow American citizens.

Glyphosate kills, period. Why haven’t the men and women elected representatives in the United States Congress understood that scientific fact, and why hasn’t glyphosate been banned for use to produce the food Americans eat?

How International Corporations Are Taking Over Ukraine’s Agriculture

Context.

Ukraine has become a nation synonymous with the daily headlines. From the trail of western intervention and subversion that lead to a violent coup in 2013. To the devastating civil war that has torn the nation apart. These stories, as crucial as they are to investigate, have provided the perfect cover for international corporations to exploit Ukraine’s resources .

This exploitation accelerated when Ukraine declared its independence in 1992. From this period onward, Ukraine has experienced the colonization of its vastly important agricultural sector. International agribusiness and biotechnology firms have steadily been reforming Ukraine’s agricultural laws in order to eventually allow for an explosion in the production of genetically modified organisms.

Loopholes.

Recent efforts to speed up this annexation of Ukrainian agriculture have been documented by the Oakland Institute. Their fact-sheet on the Corporate Takeover of Ukrainian Agriculture shows how the law firm Frishberg and Partners found loopholes in a moratorium on Ukrainian agricultural land sales. The law firm suggested a two-pronged approach to circumventing this moratorium, which remains in force until January 1, 2016.

The first step is to lease Ukrainian land instead of purchasing it, a practive that basically provides ownership when combined with legal purchases of industrial spaces alongside the same land.

The second step to bypassing the moratorium is to buy large amounts of shares in leading Ukrainian agribusinesses and then change these companies from the inside out. This is a strategy that international agribusiness giants such as Cargill, Monsanto and Dupont have employed. In 2014 Cargill bought a five percent share in UkrLandFarming, the largest land ‘bank’ in Ukraine.

These loopholes are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the multinational effort to subdue and mold a potentially lucrative agriculture market for maximum profit. While Ukraine currently enforces a ban on GMO products, it has become apparent that this is a temporary state of affairs. The stage was set for the impending removal of this ban when Ukraine and the EU signed an association agreement in 2014.

Clause 404.

Of particular interest in this association agreement is clause 404 which promotes “ the use of biotechnologies” in Ukrainian agriculture. Furthermore the clause states that Ukraine needs to facilitate “conditions for investment” as well as opening Ukraine’s agriculture to a “framework of international organisations”.

It becomes clear from requirements such as those listed in the association agreement that Ukraine is not being set up for economic prosperity and independence, but rather for multinational exploitation.

While these developments, it could be argued, are open to interpretation, as indeed multinational corporations would prefer Ukrainian farmers and the civilian population to believe. The links between government organisations and agribusiness corporations are clearer in their impications.

US-Ukraine Business Council.

The entry point into these connections can be found on the board of members of the US-Ukraine business council (USUBC). On the board of directors is plethora of multinational US business giants. Of particular interest to this report are the agribusiness board members. These include Monsanto, Cargill, Dupont and a less prominent organisation known as the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-Biotech Applications(ISAAA). These organisations are at the forefront of introducing GMO products into a agricultural sector that they increasingly control. Also on the board of directors and working alongside with these corporations is the ubiquitous USaid, under the banner of the agroinvest program.

These companies and organisations have made their way into several key areas of Ukrainian agriculture, piecing together a multifaceted plan which will ultimately culminate in the implementation and monopoly of GMO products in Ukraine.

Business and Legislation.

MonstantoCargill and Dupont have all already invested hundreds of millions of dollars into the construction of seed processing plants in Ukraine. These companies have over the last twenty years established strong business foundation in within the country. These foundations have been laid so deep that international agribusiness companies can be found on the board of members of the national Ukrainian Seed Association. This association, which includes Monstanto and Dupont, aims to implement “new technologies” and “the best new varieties and hybrids in Ukraine”.

The Ukrainian Seed Association also seeks to “take active part in the development of legislation of Ukraine concerning the improvement of seed market”. What this shows is that multinational agribusiness giants have the ability to not only introduce their technologies into Ukraine, but actively seek to change Ukrainian legislation to benefit their implementation.

A likely result of this practice is evident in the 2012 repeal of compulsory GMO labelling in Ukraine. This was done only two years after the law was put into place. Coincidentally, Monsanto doubled its presence in Ukraine during the same year as the repeal.

The US Government’s Role in GMO colonialism.

Within this increasingly layered picture of corporate intervention into Ukraine’s agriculture can be found the key player in Ukraine’s current state of affairs. The US government, while telling the world it is simply brokering a transition in Ukraine, is in fact playing a central role shaping the nation’s economy. The aforementioned ISAAA which claims to be “a small, responsive, non-bureaucratic, international network”, is in fact sponsored directly by the US state department, department of Agriculture and USaid. The ISAAA is instrumental in organising the dissemination of biotechnology into “developing countries through public-private partnerships”.

Through the sponsoring of the ISAAA which sits on the US-Ukraine business council, and works to introduce GMO’s into Ukraine, the US government is directly facilitating the corporate takeover of Ukraine’s agriculture.

Ramifications.

The concerted campaign of these corporations, with the help of USaid and even direct US government assistance, is already paying dividends for the future profits of these companies. The Ukrainian Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food, Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, announced in 2013 that GMO feed trials for livestock had begun. The IMF loaned Ukraine 17 billion dollars, but with one of the terms being that Ukraine needs toeventually open itself to biotechnology and GMO products.

Ukraine is renown for its ‘black soil’, which is extremely fertile and high yielding. It has long been used by local farmers to supply much of Europe and the world with corn and wheat. For the immensely wealthy international corporations this is the chance to make more money, and with the current situation in Ukraine, it will be relatively easy to do so.

Once the biotechnology and GMO laws are altered it will be too late for small farms and businesses to compete on a local scale, let alone an international one.

While the tragedy of the potential ruination of Ukraine’s unique soils and environment is enough to warrant alarm. It is the fact that the benefits of this corporate invasion will only be shared by the companies themselves and the few oligarchs whose land they have purchased. Ukraine as a whole will receive little to no benefit in the long term. For a country ruined by a war with no end in sight as well as decades of corruption, this spells disaster on a grand scale.

Ukraine is in dire need of less foreign-led ‘rebuilding’. The idea that Ukraine needed to choose an US-EU led intervention, is what has led to much of the chaos. On top of the conflict this has caused, it has led the way for companies like Monsanto, Dupont and Cargill to take  full advantage of this instability.

Unless more light is shed on the domination of struggling nations by international corporations, this trend will continue. The eventual costs of biotechnology and the potential health detriments will lead to Ukraine remaining unable to recover. It will instead continue to be used as a colonial business outpost for the many companies and governments seeking to exploit its natural resources.
