This blog is devoted to legal, historical and human rights matters, in which issues of general concern are addressed freely and spontaneously. It is intended to further an informal exchange of views in the democratic spirit of freedom of opinion and respect for the opinions of others, in an effort to understand rather than condemn, to propose constructive solutions rather than grandstand. The perspective is both from inside and outside the box and the added value lies more in the questions than in the answers.

As an independent at heart, Bernie Sanders has been consistent in his values and policies over the years. Are the American people ready to wake up and listen to him? Are Americans ready to change course?

Rosaliene,
The debate starting soon in Flint, Michigan between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton will be truly historic. Thank you for sharing the message.

I do hope I’m wrong about this, but what comes to mind is H.L. Mencken’s quote: “No one in this world, so far as I know — and I have searched the records for years, and employed agents to help me — has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby.” Adlai Stevenson II, another high minded and well-educated man, gave a lecture (I believe at Sanders’ alma mater, the U of C) in which an enthusiastic supporter yelled out “Every thinking American will vote for you!” Stevenson’s reply: “Thank you, but I’d prefer a majority vote.” Again, I’d love a good man or woman in the White House and Bernie is one such.

Gerald,
How are you. While in agreement with your sentiments, other factors are part of the equation regarding those Americans supporting Hillary Clinton. It’s understandable that younger people support Bernie Sanders in very high percentages because they for the most part get their news/information on their computers – not through corporate media. The opposite is true for older Americans supporting Hillary Clinton who watch Fox, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, etc., where Bernie Sanders gets little airtime and is frequently defamed on the orders of owners of those media firms. Considering that state of affairs, if older Americans were aware of Bernie Sanders to the extent younger voters are Sanders would have been running away with the race. Sanders’ ability to go from 3% from when he announced his candidacy to where he is now is truly phenomenal given the massive hurdles erected before his campaign, and certainly provides evidence of his vision being far superior, and far more acceptable in the minds of Americans (for those aware of it), than Hillary Clinton’s. Michigan, pardon the unintended pun (once the auto capital of the world), is without doubt where the “rubber meets the road”. Thank you for your comment.

Bernie is a good example of why we should have term limits for government positions. We’ve had entirely enough of his BS.

Lynn,
Was wondering if there were any examples of the “BS” you could share, and/or elaborate upon.
