he video was made by the National Consensus Government of the State of Palestine as part of the presentation of its National Early Recovery and Reconstruction Plan at the Cairo conference on October 12, 2014. The video shows the extent of the damage Gazans have endured during the seven-week Israeli military assault beginning in July 2014.
Over 2,100 people were killed, of which 580 were children. During the Israeli military campaign one in four Palestinians in Gaza were forced to flee, while tens of thousands of homes were either partially or completely destroyed. Gazans now face shortages of shelter, food, energy, and water as winter rapidly approaches.
While over 100,000 men, women, and children became homeless from the 50-day Israeli siege, Gazans’ agriculture, trade, and industry were essentially brought to a halt, resulting in thousands losing employment and income. At the United Nations Security Council 7,281st meeting of October 21, 2014, the international community expressed unanimous agreement on the urgency of greatly accelerated action in bringing about Palestinian independence and statehood.
