Yes, Dick Cheney. We Have Heard Anything To The Contrary.

RethinkIs it presumptuous to say there will be a real investigation of events which occurred on September 11, 2001? There are two ways of looking at the term “real investigation”. What ended up as the official “9/11 Commission Report” was not a real investigation. It was a cover up, a deception, and/or a whitewash, but one thing it was not: an investigation into the truth of what occurred on 9/11. In the context of the 9/11 Commission, a real investigation would include presentations and testimony from a far larger group of men and women the world over.

The men and women who would become involved in a real investigation as opposed to the 9/11 Commission – from which they had been excluded – are people from around the Earth who have since September 11, 2001 actually conducted the real investigation. These are men and women who, if they had the power to subpoena witnesses for testimony under oath, would probably have solved the case of who was behind 9/11 long ago.

Norman Mineta, a member of the Bush administration cabinet, testified to the 9/11 Commission about the morning of September 11, when he was in the same command facility with then Vice President Dick Cheney in the below ground levels of the White House, after the airliners struck the Twin Towers. Mineta described how a young military officer was coming to the facility to tell Cheney about a plane being followed on radar approaching the Pentagon, and that his first contact with Cheney was where he told Cheney, “the plane is fifty miles away”.

Minutes later, the young military officer came down to the White House basement command facility and told Cheney, “the plane is thirty miles away”. The young military officer finally came down minutes later and said to Cheney, “The plane is ten miles away. Do the orders still stand?”  Mineta then testified that Cheney told the military officer, “Of course the orders still stand! Have you heard anything to the contrary?”

Now, if by some odd chance Dick Cheney comes to read these words, your question “Have you heard anything to the contrary?” shall now be used in a way that is far out of context. It will be as if someone asked you if the official 9/11 Commission Report still stands, and not in the context of the stand-down orders related to the plane ten miles away from the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Then your response would go something like this: “Of course the 9/11 Commission Report still stands! Have you heard anything to the contrary?”

In contrast to the young military officer’s inability to answer Dick Cheney in the affirmative, there are many who will answer his totally taken out-of-context version of the question in the affirmative. In other words: “Yes, Dick Cheney. We have heard anything to the contrary” – to the official 9/11 Commission Report. And, Mr. Cheney, “contrary” to the conspiracy theorists your boss George W. Bush told the American people to avoid, the people who’ve heard anything to the contrary are some of the most sober-minded, intelligent, straightforward, and patriotic men and women on the Earth.

Included in this group of “contrarians” are many thousands of men and women architects, engineers, physicists, pilots, firefighters, military current and retired, university professors in all fields of study, artists, researchers, both independent and professional investigative journalists, documentary filmmakers, attorneys, and the list goes on, and on, and on…

If you haven’t stopped reading Mr. Cheney, could you and your old boss George W. Bush offer a joint statement to these thousands of very intelligent and patriotic people; maybe your shared take on Building 7’s collapse into its own footprint, which they are really puzzled about; or seriously address their concerns that some persons besides the hijackers were behind the events that occurred on that fateful, historically consequential day – and that those persons are still at large, operating freely?

Assuage the concerns of these thousands of men and women in an act of basic compassion for your fellow human beings. Make your joint statement after considering your legacies and how they will affect the futures of your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, because until all legitimate questions about 9/11 become answered there will be persistent, reasonable doubts about your actions on that day.

Today, on the 13th anniversary of September 11, 2001, the extremely long walk on the path leading to a real investigation of 9/11 is reaching its destination. Architects, engineers, physicists, and demolitions experts have called the findings of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on Building 7 (Building 7 was never mentioned in the official 9/11 Commission Report) “nonsense”, “defying the most basic laws of physics”, “impossible”, and that “it can’t happen”.

Sharing a personal experience may help drive home even further an already obvious, impossible-to-ignore argument/case for a real investigation, based only on experts’ opinions about Building 7’s collapse. Years ago, with next to zero knowledge of automotive mechanics, a fellow was selling a sharp-looking, gold 1968 Buick Skylark Coupe like one sees at popular, weekend Classic Car nights, and I decided to take a closer look with an interest in possibly buying it. The body was fine and the paint job looked good. The interior was clean as well as the trunk area. So, the fellow popped the hood for a closer look at the engine.

With enough very basic knowledge to check the fluid levels and their condition, upon examination of the oil measure it became clear the engine was out of oil. The young man trying to sell the car was very silent when the oil issue became mentioned, probably to avoid any negative talk that could prevent the sale. After telling him I’d have to think about it, I decided to seek advice from the nearby technical college and one of its automotive repair instructors. After finding one in the facility’s lunchroom I told him about the oil measure without any presence of oil, and his classic reply was, “if the dipstick doesn’t show any oil, that means there’s no oil in the engine”.

The thousands of sober-minded, intelligent, patriotic, “contrarian” men and women of integrity around the world mentioned earlier aren’t buying the official 9/11 Commission Report. By any scientific measure – they find it’s out of oil.

  1. I think any serious investigation of 9-11 would have to start with investigating why George W Bush was allowed to contaminate and destroy the crime scene (e.g. shipping the steel supporting columns off to China to be melted down) before there was a forensic examination.

Oh yes. We also need to question former mayor Giulani under oath on why he told a reporter that Tower 1 and 2 were about to collapse.

    1. Stuart,
Most certainly, plus so many more unanswered questions. One source of 9/11 information brought up the question: “why didn’t Giuliani order the evacuation of the second tower after the first was struck?” The number of questions, if listed, would probably be many hundreds. There are no statute of limitations on mass murder cases and, seeing evidence hasn’t been presented proving Osama Bin Laden guilty, the perpetrators have yet to become identified. 9/11 is an unsolved, open mass murder case.
      Thanks,
      Jerry
